Mason Public Schools Board of Education and the Holt Public Schools Board of Education have approved a plan to partner for a joint gymnastics program. This plan makes logistical sense for both districts in regard to trends in gymnastics, participation numbers, coaching turnover and competitiveness.

Mason Public Schools has announced the hire of a new principal of the Harvey Education Center (HEC). Angie Vandecar brings over 15 years of early childhood development experience to the district. Most recently, Mrs. Vandecar served as a kindergarten teacher at Fuerstenau Early Childhood Center in DeWitt.

The Michigan Department of Education has recently published the annual Bulletin 1014. In this report, Mason Public Schools has maintained a ranking for low total business and administrative costs per student compared to other Michigan districts for the years ending June 30, 2015, 2016 and 2017. For the last three fiscal years, Mason Public Schools has been ranked in the lowest 8% of all school districts in the state, for the lowest business and administrative cost per student.

Mason High School students win a contest to Skype with well-known author

Earlier this month, Mason High School students participated in a Skype call with worldrenowned young adult author and vlogger, John Green. Mason High School Librarian, Kristy Sandel worked with students to enter a contest, in which a winning school would receive the opportunity to speak with the author. The contest was created by Follett Books.
