Student Safety at the Forefront with Mason Public Schools ’ Investment in Bus Technology

New Mason Public Schools Buses

Mason, MI - On Monday, November 5th, Mason Public Schools Board of Education approved bids to install video camera systems and stop arm cameras on all of the district buses. The district purchased new buses thissummer which have this technology installed. The district’s existing buses, which are not currently equipped will have this technologyinstalled in the next month. Once the installation is complete, all buses will have the most up-to-date technology available to make the transportation of students as safe as possible.

The buses will feature a stop arm camera thatwill allow the district to capture photos of drivers and license plates of vehicles who pass school buses illegally when the stop arm is out.If this occurs, the district plans to turn these images over to law enforcement for further investigation.

“Recently, we have seenmany reports of cars illegally passing buses which have the stop arms out and in some cases causing accidents. Mason has been working on equipping our buses with thistechnology for many months and are proud to say that we are doing all that we can to prevent accidents from occurring around our students and drivers,” said Ronald Drzewicki, Ed.S., Superintendent, Mason Public Schools.

The Board of Education approved the bid from Holland Bus Company for the purchase and installation of the Angel Trax video systems in the remaining Mason buses for $56,229.
