Non-Homestead Operating Millage Renewal

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, voters in Mason Public Schools will be asked to vote on the RENEWAL of the 18 mill non-homestead property tax millage last approved by voters in 2010. This is not a tax paid by homeowners on their primary residences. School districts must levy a local property tax of 18 mills on non-homestead property - business, industrial, commercial, rental property and second homes - in order to receive its full per pupil funding.

A Yes Vote does not increase homeowner taxes on primary residences and renews approximately $3,500,000 of operational funds to provide educational programing for our students. A No Vote does not result in lower homeowner taxes on primary residences and would result in the loss of approximately $3,500,000 of operation funds for Mason Public Schools.

Absentee ballots will be mailed soon and are available at the Ingham County Clerk’s office.
