Capital Improvement Project on Track in Mason

The first phase of a three phase Capital Improvement Project in Mason will wrap up in August 2020. The final pieces of this phase are currently under construction and are on target to finish on time and on budget.

Alaiedon Elementary and North Aurelius Elementary Schools are receiving significant improvements to facilities, safety and security. Each building will receive a new multi-purpose room, additional classrooms and a new secure entry. Planned layout changes, remodeling and mechanical and electrical upgrades are also part of the project. In addition, site improvements will expand parking and improve student pick-up and drop-off to ensure each student is safe during high-traffic times.

“We are grateful for the community’s support,” Ronald Drzewicki, Ed.S., Superintendent of Mason Public Schools. “The new and improved learning environments will benefit our elementary learners.”

In November 2017, voters in Mason approved the $69.7 million bond which will address needed improvements to every District building. Other expenditures in phase one include the now complete renovation and addition of the Harvey Education Center as well as continuing to improve technology and purchasing new buses which will be fully equipped with enhanced safety features. Construction on the second phase of the project will begin in the Spring of 2021.
